We had a good time connecting with people this last weekend. It was encouraging.
While I'm writing, the boys are playing Legos beside me. They are into Star Wars little figurines and anything that has to do with light sabers.
China is an interesting place. Some things change quickly. Like this bridge. A few months ago there was no sign of a bridge. Suddenly, it went up.
And this bench. We have a huge concrete space to run about in the middle of where we live. A couple of years ago they refused to consider putting in a small playground. They explained dangers, liabilities, law suits etc. At least they are offering people a few more places to sit.
And somethings take a while to change. There are still arranged marriages. Parents exchange dowries and children's feelings aren't always considered. Last weekend a friend got married in this sutuation. It's quite common.
It's that time of year when people pull up my kids' trousers to see "how many layers" they wear. My kids don't like people poking at them but it happens all the time. We might just be getting bread at the corner shop or walking home from school, people are curious.
Previously our kids did homeschooling and then went out the door (still arriving in the morning) for local school. We've just switched things around. We are trying first do local school and then English reading and writing after they get home. Today wasn't easy. I trust it will get easier once they get use to it. We think it will be better in the long run. Next year's new school may work best on a schedule like the present one.
Thanks for stopping by and reading! Have a great day. I'm off to bed after a busy day!
