Christmas is inching into society in China. I think in big cities Christmas has made a huge entrance. But here, it's still inching into life and homes.
Streets and little shops don't have anything really different in them. There isn't much Christmas music heard in cars or houses. But it's presence is still felt. There are Christmas trees outside of big commercial places. Some local friends are thinking about Christmas presents. And some even have a little Christmad tree. English institutes and some schools have some decorations up. My sons' school started decorating today! Schools here don't take any days off for Christmas. For everyone, it's just another day.
We try to make Christmas felt because we love the hope, the chance to celebrate traditions and the smell of cookies.
We are busy all through the year but Christmas is a great time to get different groups of people together. We do games, eat food and share about the meaning of the season. Last year we had 8 Christmas gatherings in about seven days. I still remember the relief after we did our last gathering! Today we started with our first one. Two are planned for tomorrow.
We were blessed to see my parents a few weeks ago. It was wonderful. My in-laws are coming into town in a few days! We are thankful to have time with all of them!
How are you enjoying your Christmas season? What are some of your traditions?
Here are a few photos of the last bit.
Thanks for stopping by and reading!
Have a great day!
