We arrived! It was a long journey, but mostly smooth. We woke up about 5:30 am Monday to make our train. Then we had about eighteen hours before our flight in the capital. We spent the day with friends. It was actually a lovely day! My little man caught up with his friends (thanks Misty!) and we were able to get everyone running around. Then we
made our way to the airport were we tried to get a bit of sleep before our 1am flight. It was sort of successful. We flew and had a 12 hour "transit" in Central Asia. Our transit zone was pretty small and my inquiries about "what happened to my stroller" were met with "GO to the mother and baby room." They told me they were too busy to inquire about it. I figured I would keep asking (they weren't impressed) until someone helped. Finally after about four hours and having asked about six people someone started to track it down. In the meantime we ate peanut butter and jam sandwiches, zucchini bread, and played with little new things that had been wrapped and prepared for "those SPECIAL / help me! Moments." My little man, baby and me slept for a couple of hours on the floor in the baby room and we made it through decently rested and with no desire to eat any more sandwiches or foil wrapped zucchini bread. Our next flight was fine. The plane was pretty empty so we all had a bit of extra room. It was wonderful to touch down, make it through customs without any problems (my DH still doesn't quite appreciate my dread of customs after almost having been turned away four years ago. Maybe it's overreacting, but I had the luggage called back after it had been checked through to retrieve his Swiss passport so that we could enter England with it. I have learned that under European law, families aren't allowed to be separated. I breather a sigh of relief once passports were all stamped and we were told welcome back.)
Happy to be here. It's great to catch up with people! 2/3 kids are napping now and we are grateful that everyone slept through the night. In a couple of hours we take a train and carry on:)
Thanks for stopping by and reading:)
