I still have to stay next to my little one because people try to get their babies to play with him. That shouldn't be a problem! They have good motivations but my 2 year old doesn't like gawkers or littler babies taking toys out of his hands (and the complex situation of needing to share toys with a stranger even if he was very happy minutes before.)
My middle child loves attention; he'll wave at strangers, etc. He plays football or looks at ants with different kids and his brothers.
But my youngest little one gets irritated when people get into his personal space. Sometimes he tries to get the people to leave. He growls, shouts and embarrassing sorts of things like this. Imagine a nice mom with a one year old who just wants her baby to play with my little guy. Maybe that's been the fifth time that's happened to him in the last 20 minutes. So rather than put on a smile and play together or nicely say, "anything." He growls.
We give him consequences for the growling, etc. Also we understand that it's not easy for him. I often try to nicely suggest in these situations that he needs space (and I tell him to smile and be polite.) If I say this twice, they get the message. He just isn't a fan of strangers staring at him or assuming that he wants to play with anyone and everyone. Ahh.
They need to run around outside but sometimes they also run away from these situations.
Just a quick hello from over here.
Thanks for stopping by and reading.
We celebrated our 11 year anniversary last week.
