Nails and fighting

Today we were at a different kids home for the afternoon and evening. I tried to help some young boys cut their finger nails. I find sometimes little fingernails are really long. Sometimes they let me cut them. Sometimes the easiest thing to do is present a nail clipper and let them do it themselves. Today one little boy told me that he kept his fingernails long because he often fights and his nails are his weapon. He didn't resist too much when I insisted that they had to be kept trim and clean. And that they are not to be used as a weapon!

I got his side of the story of constant fighting. He assured he that he's practically perfect. It's actually all the other boy's fault;)

We talked together for a long time. I tried to play fight with him and act out what he can do in the future. Hopefully things will slowly start to change. Hopefully this practically perfect boy, weaponless now with his short nails, will start to change his attitude. They don't have to be best friends. But no one needs bullying. If the fists come out, hopefully he will walk away.

Thanks for reading and stopping by.     Have a great rest of your weekend!
