doing homework, reinforcing what they've been learning at school (keep in mind most kids go at 7:30 am and get out at 5:30pm) and preparing for next year's change of schools. Most kids will move up to first grade. We plan on keeping our little man in the local kindergarten for one more year since his birthday is two days after the age minimum (6).

The teacher was a bit nervous in front and was trying to help parents see the importance of working at home with the kids so that when they are one of 70/80 other students in a class, that they won't feel too overwhelmed. She told stories about how stressful it really is for kids and parents and how this is time to really take their education and preparation seriously. She talked about tests coming up, all sorts of books and extra material that we can buy to supplement their education.
I tried to understand everything, I asked a few questions and listened as she encouraged parents/grandparents to start finding the right first grade for the kids and all of the elements to be considering in the next few months. Who ever knew kindergarten could get so serious? We aren't feeling the pressure especially since we are doing things a bit differently.
She did tell me that my little man is making progress lately on his Chinese writing and pinyin and that he's been doing great. I'm thankful that he's participating and learning some of the pinyin. He's even progressing with his phonics and reading. One step at a time... Thankful for His grace.
Happy Lantern Festival. The fireworks are back for a night! My little man made some sweet sticky rice balls at school today since it's what people usually eat today. We took some home and I boiled them for a few minutes. I think he preferred rolling the red beans into the rice flour than he did eating them. Oh well.
Thanks for stopping by and reading.
